VARANASI, July 18, 2013: The last hour changes in the platforms of trains will be completely avoided for the entire Shrawan month at Cantonment Railway Station.

Station manager, AK Pandey, said that while the platforms are changed in urgent cases, but a complete check on it will be done during the Shrawan month as crowd is eventually going to increase in the station premises.

"We will also see that the drinking water facility is up to the mark for 24 hours. All the taps and tanks are being checked for this purpose", he said. Station authorities are also gearing preparations to check the condition of CCTV cameras and metal detectors. The parcel trolleys and other vehicles which are used on platforms will be kept in an organised manner to avoid any difficulty for pilgrims. Meanwhile, station manager has also set a deadline of July 23 for the removal of debris and waste material which are accumulated on various platforms and circulating area of the station will removed so that pilgrims who would arrive in the city during that period should not get hurt.

It may be noted the construction work going on the platform number one is troubling passengers at present. The debris and waste materials are accumulated on platform number one, platform number two as well as the circulating area. "The work is not going to be completed any time soon, it will take few more months", said Pandey.
