Thiruvananthapuram, July 18, 2013: The Melsanthis (head priests) of Sabarimala should be considered a special category after completion of their tenure, and a special grade should be given to them, Devaswom Minister V.S. Sivakumar has said.

Inaugurating the Ramayana Month (Karkkidakam) celebrations organised by the Travancore Devaswom Board here on Wednesday, Mr. Sivakumar said the message of the epic would guide society to peace and prosperity. Board president M.P. Govindan Nair, member P.K. Kumaran, and commissioner P. Venugopal spoke.
