Muzrai Temple Priests to Stage a ‘Silent Rally’ in Bangalore on July 23

Bangalore, July 18, 2013: The Karnataka Sate Muzrai Temple Priests and Agamikara Employees Association led by Shantaveera Mahaswami will take out a “silent rally” from the Mysore Bank Circle to Freedom Park in Bangalore on July 23 at noon to press for the fulfilment of their demands.

State president of the association, Srivatsa, said on Wednesday that the association is demanding that the Rs. 24,000 tastik amount, which is given by the government for the maintenance of temples, be credited to the accounts of the archaks directly.

He added that further investigation must be initiated into irregularities regarding the agama examinations from 2003 to 2012.

Ganapathy Mahabaleshwar, agama pundit, who has admitted to the irregularities in the exams should be suspended, he said.

A 50 per cent reservation for children of archaks in ‘C’ category temples is also among their demands.
