11 Pilgrims from Karimnagar missing

Karimnagar, June 22, 2013: Eleven pilgrims from Yellareddypet mandal of Karimnagar district who have gone to Char Dham shrines have been missing since June 14 when they last contacted their relatives here.

Ever since the news of rain and the subsequent floods wreaked havoc in Char-Dham region beamed on television screens, the relatives of Satyalal Goud and others in Gollapalli village of Yellareddypet mandal have been worried about their safety and whereabouts.

All the 11 members went in a group on June 7. They went to Haridwar in a train and later travelled to Yamunotri and Gangotri by buses. Later, they went to Kedarnath.

The pilgrims called their family members on the night of June 14 from Gaurikund. Since then, there had been no communication from them. The relatives suspect that they might have been stranded between Gaurikund and Badrinath.

Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar inquired with the relatives of people who were on pilgrimage and contacted the A.P. Bhavan authorities in New Delhi. He also spoke to Kedarnath Collector Purushotham and inquired about the safety of the pilgrims.
