Pilgrims Apprehensive About Amaranth Yatra, Many Cancellations Sought

Bangalore: The devastation in Uttarakhand is causing anxious moments to those going on the Amarnath yatra starting from June 28. The Shivashakti Seva Mandali, which has 47 chapters across the country and that runs free food and medical camps in the base camps, has been flooded with calls enquiring about the fate of the yatra. “Though we are trying to tell the pilgrims that Amarnath and Uttarakhand are far from each other, a large number of Amarnath pilgrims have already cancelled their trip. Many others are in the process of calling it off,” said A.R. Venkatramaiah, president of the mandali’s Bangalore Chapter
