Bhagwad Gita is the Master-Key to All Problems: Sangeetha Menon

Visakhapatnam, July 16, 2013: Bhagavad Gita is a master key to know the solutions to our day-to-day problems and at the same time Gita is eternal source for inspiration, according to National Institute of Advanced Studies, Consciousness Studies Programme Head Sangeetha Menon.

She addressed the students and faculty members in a lecture series programme on ‘the philosophy and psychology of the Bhagavad Gita’ arranged by Centre for Gandhian Studies, GITAM Institute of Management, GITAM University.

She narrated that Bhagavad Gita was nothing but a simple text like a guide to lead better life.

“It helps the youth who are facing insufficiency to achieve goals,” she said.

Prof. Menon who did her Phd. on ‘the concept of consciousness in the Bhagavad Gita,’ advised the students that understanding the Gita would improve the ability to take effective decisions in personal life and at workplace.

In next four days she is delivering lectures on desire and its discontent, agent and action, body and consciousness, knowledge and freedom.

While inaugurating the programme, Ramakrishna Mission secretary Swami Amritananda said that Bhagavad Gita is book on psychology with universally acceptable concepts and translated into many languages after Bible.

GITAM University Chancellor K. Ramakrishna Rao mentioned that seeking self realisation was the main concept in Bhagavad Gita.

New courses

He said that GITAM University was planning to start humanities, philosophy, Indian civilisation, psychology and other subjects through Centre for Gandhian Studies to expose the youth to richness of ideas and values.

Vice-Chancellor G. Subrahmanyam, Institute of Management Principal K. Sivarama Krishna, Centre for Gandhian Studies Director B. Sambasiva Prasad and others participated.
