Relief Op Resumes in U’khand

Dehradun, July 10, 2013: Relief operations resumed in some disaster-hit areas in the State on Tuesday as weather cleared up in certain areas allowing the helicopters to deliver relief material to the affected areas.

Bhaskar Anand, Secretary, Uttarakhand Disaster Management Department said Rs.2, 000 will be given every month for six months to the people whose houses have been destroyed in the catastrophe. However, this amount shall not be provided to families who have apartments to reside other than the ones damaged.

Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna instructed the mobile companies to work on restoring their networks in the disaster-hit areas. Mr. Bahuguna said every possible help will be provided to the companies to make the mobile towers function soon.

Electric supply still needs to be resumed in 69 villages in Uttarkashi district, 30 villages in Rudraprayag , 18 villages in Chamoli , and in few other villages of the State.

Relief material continued to be carried by roads and helicopters in all the disaster-hit areas throughout the State. Till Tuesday evening, more than 90 bodies had been cremated in Kedarnath. Another team will be sent to Kedarnath to replace the existing team to continue the required work in the area. An old trek route from Chaumasi to Kedarnath is being strengthened.
