Tibetan Leader Castigates Gaya Terror Attack

Shimla, July 8, 2013: The Tibetan ‘government-in-exile’ on Sunday expressed sadness over the series of blasts at the Mahabodhi temple area in Bodh Gaya.

“I am deeply saddened to learn about the series of bomb blasts at Mahabodhi temple. My prayers for the injured and their family members,” ‘prime minister-in-exile’ Lobsang Sangay said in a statement here. Hundreds of Buddhist pilgrims from Dharamsala, the headquarters of The Dalai Lama, flock to Mahabodhi temple.

Tenzin Takla, private secretary to the Dalai Lama, refused to comment on the issue and said that the office of spiritual leader was not issuing any official statement in this regard. The Dalai Lama’s office now exclusively deals with the religious teachings and the political and administrative part is dealt by the ‘central Tibetan administration (CTA)’ and prime minister’s office in Dharamsala. Dalai Lama is presently in Karnataka for giving the religious sermons.

Tashi Phunspsok, the information secretary and spokesman of CTA when contacted by The Hindusaid, “we do not comment on what happens in India, if need be, we would officially comment on this issue by tomorrow.”
