Panchalinga darshana: D.C. Visits to Inspect the Prep.

Mysore, July 4, 2013: To step up preparations for the famed Panchalinga Darshana at Talakadu in T. Narsipur taluk from December 2, Deputy Commissioner Rame Gowda and other officials on Wednesday visited important sites associated with the event.

The team members visited the Vaidyanatheshwara temple, which holds centre stage during the event, and apprised themselves of preparatory work such as temple repairs.

They also took stock of the condition of the bus-stand, approach roads and other facilities that may be required to cater to more than 3.5 million pilgrims expected to participate in the event.

One-way

The Deputy Commissioner directed the officials to introduce one-way rule for the smooth flow of traffic and to prevent traffic jams. Special emphasis should be given to providing civic amenities such as drinking water, and temporary toilets. Temporary parking lots, cloakrooms and restrooms should also be accorded priority, said Mr. Gowda, who directed the officials to send the proposals and estimates for the preparations immediately.

The Department of Health and Family Welfare was directed to take steps to make sure there was no outbreak of an epidemic. The Department of Kannada and Culture has been directed to take advantage of the estimated number of pilgrims and organise cultural programmes that reflected the traditions of the State.

Additional transformers would be set up to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the five temples and other important sites in the town.

Illumination

The Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) has been directed to prepare an estimate that may accrue as electricity charges for illumination of historical sites and temples at Talakadu and surrounding areas for one month.

Mysore Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer P.A. Gopal, District Superintendent of Police Abhinav Khare, Director of Archaeology and Museums R. Gopal, and local elected representatives were present.
