Kiran Greets the Rescued Flood Victims, Promises Safe Return Home

New Delhi, June 26, 2013: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, who is camping here, on Tuesday, interacted with the pilgrims of Andhra Pradesh, who were rescued from flood-affected Uttarakhand and brought here safely.

He said the State government was committed to bringing back all affected persons to their home State and its efforts would continue till everyone was rescued. A 168-seater Jet Airways flight is being arranged by the AP Government on Wednesday to bring pilgrims to Hyderabad from Dehradun.

So far, 1,600 pilgrims have been safely sent back to AP, he said. Mr. Reddy met Finance Minister P. Chidambaram and discussed various issues concerning AP including Telangana. He also called on Congress general secretary in-charge of AP, Digvijay Singh, and analysed the vexatious separate Telangana issue with him.

Meanwhile, National People’s Party (NPP) president and former Lok Sabha Speaker P.A. Sangma, addressing a meeting in Nagpur on Monday, supported the creation of Telangana and Vidarbha States.
