The Tamil Nadu Government Employees’ Union has suggested that the government deduct a day’s salary of all government employees and donate it for the massive rescue and rehabilitation efforts currently on in flood-affected parts of Uttarakhand.

In a statement here, the union’s State president K. Palpandian said the union was authorising the government to take a day’s wages from the employees and hand the amount over to the Uttarakhand government.
