Kuchipudi Dancers Set Their Eyes to the Nationals

Vijayawada, June 24, 2013: Members of Sri Durga Sai Nruthya Niketan, who performed in several State and National level events, wish to exhibit their talent at the National-Level Kuchipudi Dance Utsavams to be held in July, at Kuchipudi village in Krishna district.

A native of Kothagudem of Khammam district, Madhurapantula Sita Prasad, is running Sri Durga Sai Nruthya Niketan. Students of the dance school performed in ‘Muvvala Savvadi’ a dance programme organised by Sapthagiri television channel, ‘Sruthi Layalu’ in TTD channel.

A diploma holder in Kuchipudi dance, Sita Prasad, was giving training for several school and college students in the institute. “My aim is to prevent deviation from the basics of traditional Kuchipudi dance style, which was disappearing fast. With the encouragement of my husband M.G. Prasad I was imparting the art to child artistes to protect the art”, said the dancer who visited Vijayawada.

“We performed in several States across the country and gave shows in some International events and won the laurels of the noted art-lovers and Kuchipudi gurus. Artistes of Sri Durga Sai Nruthya Niketan are willing to exhibit their talent in the Kuchipudi Utsavams”, said makeup artist Arcot Chandrasekhar and appealed to the organisers to give them an opportunity. “Our team gave shows in ‘Balotsav’, a State-level cultural competition, and in many dance ballets held in other States and won many awards, said a dancer.
