Murderous Monsoon in Kedarnath: Bihar’s Quondam Minister’s Kin Amongst Those Missing

PATNA: Two close relatives of former Bihar health minister and senior BJP leader Ashwini Kumar Choubey are among those feared dead in the massive landslides, triggered by Sunday's cloudburst, near the Kedarnath shrine in Uttarakhand.

Choubey and his immediate family members were airlifted from the shrine and taken to Gupt Kashi on Wednesday, but his wife sister, Sangeeta Mishra, and her husband Subodh Mishra were not lucky. They are part of a seven-member group which went missing after the tragedy. The family sources confirmed the death of Subodh.

Another group of 40 pilgrims, including 25 women, from Bihar remained stranded at Chamoli. Most of them belong to different areas of the state capital. The relatives of the pilgrims were finding it difficult to contact them as communication lines remained disrupted.

According to information reaching here, many pilgrims were struggling without food and drinking water.
