Caught In the Uttarakhand Rains, Bhajji Is Safe Now

JAIPUR: The continuous rain in Uttarakhand has now hit cricket too. Harbhajan Singh was one of the pilgrims to be stranded at the upper reaches of Uttarakhand due to land slide and heavy rains.

The spinner, who was on a holiday found himself in a spot, but with the help of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, he has now found a shelter at a camp in Joshimath.

The cricketer is now staying put at the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) camp at Joshimath which houses the paramilitary's first battalion.

He has taken shelter with the border guarding troops since yesterday when he was returning from the Hemkunth Sahib Gurudwara here and could not go beyond because of inclement weather, a senior official said.

The bowler is now spending time interacting with ITBP jawans and playing badminton with them, they said.

"Hey guys I am fine with grace of baba ji.its been raining quite a lot here though.lots of people r struck.requesting govt 2 rescue th people," the off-spinner tweeted. Not just Harbhajan, thousands of pilgrims and tourists are stranded at various parts of the state. With the meteorological department predicting more rains, the situation is likely to be more volatile in the next twenty four hours.

Harbhajan also requested his fans to pray for the people stranded in the flood hit areas. "Thanks for ur concern my friends and fans.let's spread this msg to rescue the people who r in need in uttrakhand due to heavy rain.dua karo," he tweeted.

Having faced a troublesome time, the spinner, however, thanked the Indo-Tibetan Border Police for rescuing them. "Hi guys thank you for ur prayers and wishes.we r ok in joshimatt uttrakhand.still raining though.may god bless us all," the spinner tweeted.
