Ancient Shiva Temple Restored to Former Glory, Mahakumbhabishekam Undertaken

Tiruvannamalai: Runahareswarar Temple was an ancient Lord Shiva shrine dating back to the late Chola period. The temple is currently undergoing renovation to its past glory with an estimated cost of Rs 50 Lakh. The temple will enshrine Lord Runahareswar, Goddess Mangalambikai, Swarna Bhairavar, Runahara Ganesha, Valli Devasena Samedha Arumugar, Chandikeshwarar, Lord Suriyan, and Lord Chandran in seperate shrines. Runahareswarar Temple comes up as a parihara sthala (Salvation Shrine) to get rid of three types of debts - financial debts, devatha debts, and pithru debts by offering prayers here.

Mahakumbhabishekam at Runahareswarar Temple is proposed to be held on 10th July 2013, on Wednesday between 10.30 AM and 11.30 AM. There will be poojas and havan for two days starting from 8th July 2013.

Devotees are requested to participate in all the functions and obtain the blessing of Lord Runahareswara.
