Ways to Enjoy Amaranth Yatra sans Health Problems

Annual holy pilgrimage of Amarnath Yatra is one of the most anticipated and hugely visited sacred spots of India. Located in the northern state, i.e. Jammu and Kashmir, the holy cave of Amarnath is devoted to Lord Shiva and is open from the month of May to August. For the devotees, the Indian Government opens the holy shrine of Shri Amaranth.

For whole year, the cave is covered by snow, as it is positioned at an altitude of 3888m. During summers, the snow starts melting from rocks which leads to the formation of ice stalagmite inside the cave. This is referred as the Shivlinga. Alongside there are two other ice formations which are referred as Parvati and Ganesha.

In order to reach the holy cave of Amarnath, around 5 days trek is needed. The route of the Yatra is risky and hugely dependent over the weather conditions. It is regarded as highly unpredictable. The unexpected weather conditions leads to landslides, accidents and shortage of oxygen at high altitudes.

For those who are suffering from respiratory problems, must avoid Amarnath Yatra, as they may suffer breathing problems. It would be advisable to be physically fit for traveling such a long distance where weather conditions are unpredictable.

Before setting out for the rigorous Amarnath Yatra, traveler must follow a physical fitness regime in advance, as they would be immensely helpful during Yatra. Traveller must practice yoga along with daily walk routine few months before the Yatra.

As the weather is cold, it would be advisable to carry woolen clothes such as sweaters, jackets, blazers, woollen socks, gloves, scarves, monkey cap to cover the whole face area and therma-cot inners; umbrellas, wind cheaters, raincoats, sleeping bags, waterproof shoes, torch, walking stick.

Women must wear manageable clothes, as journey includes rough terrains. You must avoid high heels, sandals or slippers. Carrying general painkillers would be beneficial, such as dettol, bandages, cotton etc.

Although shops are available but still you must carry water and a few eatables, as in case of emergency or unfavorable conditions they would be useful. You must follow all these tips to avoid any kind of health problem.
