Kanpur Peasants Sing Hymns in A Bid to Please the Rain God

LUCKNOW: In a move to please rain gods, women in Kanpur are ploughing dry fields and chanting hymns. Locals say that with increasing temperatures in the region, the heat is unbearable. Women in Mardanpur village have adopted the traditional method of pleasing the rain god.

Local residents cite Hindu mythology where if one prays to Lord Indra, the Rain God, he blesses with heavy showers. Residents say that from many days the farms have been dry. The crops will only grow once it rains," said a resident
