Donations to TTD register 53 per cent growth

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) has registered a remarkable growth of about 53 per cent in the donations received for its various Trusts and schemes at its donor’s cell at Tirumala.

Statistics reveal that the temple management has received Rs.44.07 crore during 2012-13 financial year as against Rs. 28.73 crore the previous year.

Nitya Anndanam Tops list

Even though the donations received for S.V. Nitya Anndanam trust under which about 30,000 devotees are being fed free of cost on an average everyday topped the list of donations with a total receipt of Rs.17.25 crore (an average of 21 percent), the S.V. Veda Parirakshana trust, which ranked eighth in the table (in terms of amount received) with Rs. 1.33 crore, registered a phenomenal increase of about 835 per cent in the donations received.

Donations break-up

Other trusts which recorded an impressive growth in the donations include S.V. Gosamrakshana trust (Rs.9.02 crores, increase of 195 per cent), S.V. Pradana trust (Rs.9.59 crore, 84 per cent), Sri Balaji Arogya Varaprasadani scheme (Rs.2.78 crore, 107 per cent) and S.V. Vidyadana trust (Rs.1.27 crore, 48 percent).

Disappointing factor

However, the major disappointing factor is that S.V. BIRRD trust a meagre Rs.72.38 lakh and SV Balamandir trust (orphanage) Rs.1.56 crore. Both the trusts, which were once hailed as progressive, have registered a steep decline in the donations received which are put at -59.90 per cent and -22.74 per cent respectively.
