Celebrations of the Saptati of Sanyas Ashram at Mangalore

MANGALORE: The celebrations of the milestone of revered head of Kashi Mutt Samsthan are going on with alacrity in the coastal city. For three-days starting from June 10, the Konkani-speaking Goud Saraswath Brahmin community will celebrate 70 years of Sri Sudhindra Thirtha swamiji taking 'sanyas ashram' at the Sri Venkataramana Temple, Car Street here. Sri Samyamindra Thirtha swamiji, the junior swamiji, will also attend.

The three-day celebration will kickstart on Monday with a prayer followed by Sri Laghu Vishnu Abhisheka, Parayana Havan in the morning followed by Maha Poornahuthi, Sri Samsthana Pooja, Guru Bhiksha at 12.30pm. This will be followed by Samaraadhana, mass feeding, of the devotees.
The trustees of the temple have also lined up an elaborate mix of religious, spiritual and cultural programmes for devotees to mark the occasion.

Sri Samyamindra Thirtha will arrive at the temple from his Koteshwar sojourn along with samsthan deities - Sri Vyasa Raghupati Narasimha at 4pm. This will be followed by pada pooja to the seer at 4.30pm. Sri Srinivas Nigamagam Pathashala, Mangalore, Sri Bhuvanendra Balakashram, Basrur and Sri Sukrathindra Balakashram, Karkala, institutions owned and managed by the samsthan will celebrate their annual day on the occasion.

The representatives of various temples and institutions will extol the life and works of the senior seer at the Guruvandana programme. Sri Samyamindra Thirtha will proceed to Someshwar sojourn after the programme. On Tuesday, a special havan with recitation of 72 mantras suggested by Sriman Madhwacharya will be performed in the morning with Sri Samsthana pooja, guru bhiksha followed by samaraadhana for devotees at 12.30pm.

The final day events will unfold with chakrabja mandal pooja at 8am followed by maha-Poornahuthi, Sri Samsthana pooja, guru bhiksha, and samaraadhana at 12.30pm. Sri Srinivasa Kalyanotsava will be performed under the leadership of Pandit M Narasimha Acharya at 5pm. A bhajan programme by Puttur Narasimha Nayak will go alongside this programme.
